Or in my case I just pony up the stupid $$ and never buy from them again. The post was really a feeling that's probably mutual about brands exploiting people who have a passion and blah blah blah, but there's always a workaround. Until they can prove to me where this mystery computer is that I licensed a plugin to on New Year's Day of 2021, I'm not paying them sh*t.Įdit/Update: Hey, everyone, thanks for all the tips! And for replying to my hot take! Sorry I barely replied to anyone, I'm almost never on Reddit, but sounds like overall the feeling is mutual (except for the rule nerd who said to read the EULA, ok my guy I'll get right on that).

I understand it is in an effort to prevent piracy/sharing of one license over multiple computers, so then use ILok, dummies. Screw that, why should I pay them $25 for a plugin I already own? I really think they did this arbitrarily to make some money off a bunch of hapless musicians.

I only installed that plugin once and yet Waves is telling me I have to purchase an Update Plan to access it. I was on vacation, nowhere near my laptop on that day. Old laptop with my DAW and all my plugins totally died a month ago, and just started bringing all my plugins onto my new laptop, went to Waves Update Center to license my Electric 88 plugin and to my surprise it said I had already recovered my license on Jan 1st 2021. Hey I wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this.
